Fariba Amani, M.D. Cardiac Electrophysiologist
Fariba Amani, MD is the newest member of the cardiology department at Emanuel Medical Center joining Emanuel Specialty Care - Cardiovascular Medicine in July. Dr. Amani immigrated to the United States from Iran, nine years ago. She completed medical school and a residency program in Cardiovascular Disease at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences. After arriving in the United States with her husband, Dr. Amani completed her internship and residency program in Internal Medicine at the University of Arkansas, Medical Sciences; and then completed a Cardiology fellowship at the same program. She then completed a two year fellowship program in Electrophysiology, the first year at the University of Arkansas, and second year at Penn State Medical Center in Pennsylvania.
Dr. Amani's subspecialty is in Cardiac Electrophysiology which focuses on diagnosis and treating the arrhythmias of the heart with medications or ablation procedure and implantation of pacemakers and automatic implantable cardioverter-defibrillators.
Dr. Amani says the decision to take the position with the Emanuel Medical Group was an easy one. "The cardiology group and all the physicians at Emanuel are dedicated, excellent physicians, focused on high-quality care in the way they manage their patients. I felt that this position would be a perfect fit for me
Dr. Amani says the Turlock region has a lot of potential for growth. "I've been to a lot of places in the United States; and there is a need and potential of growth for the specialty of electrophysiology in this community."
Dr. Amani left Iran because there were few choices for her to practice in the electrophysiology field. The United States was the logical place to move. Dr. Amani says California's Central Valley is where she wanted to put down roots, because it reminded her of home, "I was drawn to Turlock because of the resemblance to my home country and the large Farsi-speaking population." She enjoys the food, and the climate is so similar to her native Iran. Dr. Amani brags to friends and family about her short commute to work. "I don't have the hassle of a big commute or being stuck in traffic, I live one and a half miles from the hospital, I'm five minutes away."
Dr. Amani and her husband, an IT manager, are self-described outdoor people, who love to hike and backpack. The couple plans to enjoy the natural, scenic beauty of California. "We're centrally-located to the ocean, to the mountains, two hours away from everything and every place."
Dr. Amani concludes she is really excited to be a new member of the Emanuel medical staff explaining, "My experience, background and training can be of use here in Turlock and hopefully will make a difference."

Oussama Dagher, M.D. FACC Interventional Cardiology
I moved to Turlock in the summer of 2007 after I completed my training in Internal Medicine at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital and Cardiovascular and interventional Cardiology fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center the University Hospital of Albert Einstein College of Medicine in NYC.
After 3 years of practicing in Turlock in a private group and with the establishment of diagnostic cardiac catheterization laboratory at EMC that I have the previlege to be the first medical director I felt that to be able to proceed with the development of the heart program in Turlock I have to be part of EPC family were the setup of multispecialty group give a broader prespective with input from different medical experts. Our plan is to provide the community of Turlock and surrounding areas with high quality cardiac care through the establishment of heart program at the center of the valley in Turlock.
With my medical background that include multiple boards certifications(internal medicine, cardiology, interventional cardiology, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography and cardiac CT angiography) and the dedication of EMC for patient care, the community of Turlock will be provided with the best evidence based cardiology services. In the near future we (me and my partner Reza Nazari, M.D.) will be starting a primary PCI(percutaneous coronary intervention) services at EMC were the life of patient suffering from heart attack can be saved by opening the blocked heart vessel at emergency base and in a timely efficient way.

Andrew Nasseri M.D. Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon
Andrew Nasseri M.D., who practices both Cardiothoracic and General Surgery, has joined the medical staff and cardiothoracic and vascular surgery team.
Dr. Nasseri comes to Emanuel from the Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri where he was both the staff cardiac surgeon and a general surgeon.
"The population of West Plains as a whole was in a poor health condition. Patients in general would seek medical and surgical care only when they couldn't bear it anymore. As a result, they routinely presented with very advanced medical and surgical problems," Dr. Nasseri said. "It was a challenging, and yet very rewarding health care environment. It gave me the opportunity to sharpen and advance my surgical skills."
Dr. Nasseri earned his medical degree at St. Georges University in 1999, then, worked as a research fellow and research coordinator at the Bay Pines Medical Center in Florida. He completed a General Surgery residency internship at the Spartanburg Regional Heath Care System in South Carolina, then, completed his five year General Surgery residency at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
In 2008, he completed a two year Cardiothoracic Surgery fellowship at the UC Davis Medical Center, in Sacramento, California, and most recently obtained minimally invasive thoracic surgery training at Harvard Medical School.
Even before beginning medical school, Dr. Nasseri knew he wanted to pursue surgery.
"The human body is the greatest of God's creations," he said. "For me, as a surgeon, to have the opportunity to surgically intervene in this complex creation in order to minimize or eliminate an acquired pathology is truly a privilege and honor, more than words can describe."
Dr. Nasseri recently became a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, an elite group of physicians and has joined Dr. Harold Tabaie, Emanuel's medical director of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, in performing open heart, thoracic and vascular surgeries.
"I've known Dr. Tabaie for more than 25 years," Dr. Nasseri said. "It will be a great honor to join him and help in serving the cardiothoracic and vascular surgery needs of the great Turlock community."
Dr. Nasseri is married with a 6-year-old daughter. His hobbies include spending time with his family, traveling and exercising. He has enjoyed training in karate for over 15 years, and is an avid ping pong player.
