Turlock, Emanuel Medical Center opened a second primary care center today, Monday, October 5th. Emanuel Physician Center - Monte Vista is located at 2240 W. Monte Vista Avenue near Golden State Blvd. The center accepts patients of all ages and most insurance plans.

"The expansion of the Emanuel Physician Center is part of Emanuel Medical Center’s goal to enhance access to primary care for the community," says John Sigsbury, CEO and President. "Many Turlock area residents do not have a primary care physician to provide for their health needs. We have two excellent, Board Certified family practice physicians who will be located at this center with a long history of excellent patient care."

Gulnara Tarpe, DO, recently moved to Turlock after spending the past five years practicing in the Midwest and has a special interest in patient wellness and preventive medicine. She speaks English, Russian and Uzbeck and is Board Certified in both family practice and osteopathic manipulative treatment.

Board Certified family practice physician Thomas Johnson, MD, will move to the new site from the first Physician Center facility located on Colorado Avenue. He joined the Center earlier this year after closing his 15-year Turlock practice and is bilingual in Spanish and English.

Preventive care is also a mission of Emanuel Physician Center. Electronic records will enable physicians to track such things as patient immunizations and cancer screenings. Three doctor’s offices and seven exam rooms are located in the full service, 3,100 square foot health center. A public open house is planned for later in October.

"With the growth in that area and the proximity to Highway 99, we hope we will be meeting the needs of the community," says Dr. David Canton, Medical Director of the Physician Center. "We’re looking at future sites in the surrounding areas so that people can maintain their health status and get care in their neighborhood without having to travel."

The new center is opening two years after the first Physician Center on Colorado Avenue near the medical center. Most insurance plans are accepted at both sites. Appointments can be made at the Monte Vista Physician Center by calling (209) 664-5150.
