Author Kelly Corrigan to Highlight
2009 Emanuel Cancer Awareness Event in Turlock

Turlock, Emanuel Medical Center is pleased to announce that author and breast cancer survivor Kelly Corrigan will be the keynote speaker at the 2009 Cancer Awareness Event. The public is invited to this free event to be held Thursday, October 15th at the Emanuel Medical Plaza, 880 E. Tuolumne Road in Turlock.

In her book, The Middle Place, Kelly Corrigan shares her unique story of being diagnosed with breast cancer at the same time her father was diagnosed with late-stage cancer. She has much to offer on the subject of the disease, battling it, and surviving it, all while watching your parent face the same struggles.

Corrigan is the founder of Circus of Cancer, an organization that offers stories and advice about how to help someone with cancer. She's also involved with Greater Good Parents.

The 2009 Emanuel Cancer Awareness Event includes:

  • 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. - Open house, hors d'oeuvres and tours of the Emanuel Medical Plaza facilities including, Stanford Emanuel Radiation Oncology Center, Ruby E. Bergman Women's Center, California Oncology of Turlock and Oasis Surgical.
  • 7:00 p.m. - Cancer Survivor March and Program with guest speaker Kelly Corrigan.
