Turlock, Many years of broad medical training and experience give Turlock physician Roben Oshaneh, MD, a unique perspective when it comes to treating patients.

 

In addition to family practice, he was a radiologist in Iran, trained in psychiatry and plastic surgery and worked in urgent care and occupational medicine in the Midwest. Dr. Oshaneh recently closed his solo practice to become the newest family practice physician to join the Emanuel Physician Center.

 

 "It doesn't matter where you go, patients are patients," he says. "They are the sufferers. I believe physicians should be like a family member or a close friend to them."  

 

Originally from Iran, Dr. Oshaneh earned his medical degree from the Ege University School of Medicine in Turkey in 1973. He did a diagnostic radiology residency at Reza Pahlavi Medical Center in Tehran and had a private radiology private practice there until 1979.

 

Dr. Oshaneh and his wife, Linda, a microbiologist, came to the US in 1980 and were unable to return home when the revolution broke out there. He persevered for many years to finish his training, working as a psychiatric surgical assistant at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago and completing a plastic surgery fellowship and second internship at Cook County Hospital.  

 

He finished a family practice residency at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville and returned to Swedish Covenant as a family practice physician. He was also on the medical staff of several clinics of the Order of St. Francis Health Care System in the Chicago area.

 

In 2005, Dr. Oshaneh opened his Turlock practice to be closer to the many family members who live in this area including his wife's parents and his sister and brother. He also has a grown son who lives in the Napa Valley.  

 

Dr. Oshaneh finds satisfaction in treating all types of patients and says he most enjoys the humanitarian part of medicine.  "At the end of the day, I ask myself, am I happy? The answer is, yes. When you really help people, especially in these days of hard economic conditions, you are satisfied."
