Community Continues To Give To Reach $4 Million Goal

Turlock, A total of $878,188 has been raised after week-three of a six-week fundraising campaign that is fueled by Legacy Circle community and employee volunteers to fully fund the $4 million Emanuel Cancer Endowment.

This past week's efforts resulted in $120,870, which was equally matched by the Ahlem family's $1 million gift that will continue for the duration of the campaign, along with a $400,000 anonymous gift.

With two weeks left in the campaign, the total money raised thus far for the Emanuel Cancer Endowment is $3,467,630.

Community Team Members Jeani and John Ferrari brought their pledge cards to Emanuel Medical Center with enthusiasm last night, knowing they held numerous donations from new Legacy Circle members and renewal pledges from many of their existing donors.

Jeani and John Ferrari reported as the top producers this week, having raised the highest amount of money ($21,150) in one week's time. The Ferrari's efforts over the past week propelled them to be the highest overall producers to date for this year's campaign efforts, having raised a total of $36,850.

"Jeani and John Ferrari have been devoted Legacy Circle team volunteers since 2001," said Emanuel Medical Center's Director of Annual Giving Jana Rhine. "The Ferrari's are an example of all our wonderful team members who commit to raising money for our community. They are all appreciated and Legacy Circle would not be the same without them."

The three-year Emanuel Cancer Endowment fundraising efforts will continue through October 8 with the goal of raising the remaining $532,370 to establish the fund.

Legacy Circle, Emanuel Medical Center's annual giving program, initiated the $4 million fundraising effort in 2007 to establish the Emanuel Cancer Endowment. The endowment is a permanent fund that will generate a quarter of a million dollars annually for Regional Cancer Services. This is the final year of a three-year campaign focused on community and employee fund-raising efforts.

The Emanuel Cancer Endowment will fund services such as: outreach and prevention, early detection, screenings, support groups, genetic risk assessment, counseling and testing, clinical research, and participation in national clinical trials.

"Every year I am humbled by the generosity Emanuel Medical Center receives from our community," said Emanuel Medical Center's Chief Executive Officer John Sigsbury. "People give because they understand the importance of having high caliber cancer services in our community. As we embark upon our final two-weeks of raising money to fully fund the Emanuel Cancer Endowment, we are honored to be part of our community's legacy."
